15 African American pitchers have won 20 games in the history of Major League Baseball. This group of men is known as the ‘Black Aces’. CC wanted to honor the group and sought a way to do so with an in-game expression.
ACES™ worked with Nike to bespoke the iconic Jordan IX and adorned the cleats with the names of each member of the Black Aces. The shoes were worn by Sabathia during MLB’s Player Weekend when the Yankees played the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.
